APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR NOW OPEN!

RISING 9th GRADERS

Current 8th graders who wish to apply for Longwood High School’s 9th grade class for the 2026–27 school year must apply through the City of Chicago’s GoCPS application system. Students should rank Longwood High School as their #1 Choice school on the application. The GoCPS application is Open NOW!

The application closes on November 14th at 5pm. Visit www.cps.edu/gocps for more information on the GoCPS process and to APPLY NOW!

RISING 10th, 11th and 12th GRADERS

The application for these grades for next school year (2026-27) opens in October! The application process for these grades is as follows: 

  1. Students/families will apply via the Distinctive School School Mint system during the Open Enrollment period (October – February).

  2. In March, if the number of applications exceeds seats available, a public lottery will be held to determine which students receive offers. 

  3. Once offers are extended, families will log into their account to accept their offers and complete registration. 

Once an application has been submitted, the Longwood HS team will stay in touch regarding next steps, Open House opportunities, and other upcoming events.

INTERESTED IN TRANSFERRING TO CICS LONGWOOD HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR?

9TH GRADERS

The Rolling Waitlist is Open!

Students must apply for 9th grade through the City of Chicago’s GoCPS application system at https://www.apply.cps.edu. Offers will be extended on a space available basis.

10TH, 11TH & 12TH GRADERS

The application for these grades is open! Applications will be processed in the order that they are received, and offers will be made on a space available basis.  Once an application is received, families will be notified of admission status within two school days.

Once the application is received, families will receive a confirmation email.  The school team will then stay in touch with families around admission status, upcoming events, school information,  and other special school communications.  We are excited to welcome you into our school community!

Families may also complete an application on-site at the school during normal school hours today!

  • Submit a completed CICS application before the deadline to be entered into the lottery.

  • Submit a completed CICS application after the deadline to be put on the waiting list.
